The AREA Science Park Consortium manages and promotes the Science and Technology park called AREA Science Park, the first science park in Italy, established in 1978, coinciding with the creation of the most important and prestigious international parks. In 1999 the Consortium became a National Research Body.Since 2005 it is a 1st level National research body of the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR).Today AREA is one of the main role players in the research system of Friuli Venezia Giulia and one of the most active promoters of technology transfer at national level. The Consortium is conscious of its points of excellence and aims to act as a national agency for the promotion and management of innovation processes in companies and public administration, striving to develop the international aspects of its role. The Science and Technology Park acts as a central link between the academic world and the industrial sector and between innovation and business. It is an essential and effective structure that promotes regional innovation to achieve results of excellence. With this aim in mind, AREA Science Park directly promotes and manages a large number of projects. One of these is the DomoticaFVG Project. The Domotica FVG project aims to make the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region an international point of reference for research, development, production and distribution of domotic systems, promoting the technology transfer between different industries to create new products and applications at competitive costs. The project is based on a business-to-business and business-to-institution network for the research and development of new automation prototypes and solutions for the house. It aims to improve the quality of life, combining solutions that are attractive, safe, functional and affordable and that, thanks to industrial production, can be marketed on a large scale. The Domotica FVG project is primarily aimed at businesses, but it also involves universities, laboratories, research centres, public and private institutions. It is aimed at all who wish to develop innovative products, processes and methods in the domotics sector or increase their competitiveness through the opportunities offered by the initiative. It is an opportunity to match both demand and offer for innovation which can create new areas of business and spin-offs. Moreover, the Domotica FVG project wishes to involve all parties and consultants operating in the sector as well as bodies, organisations and associations other than the project partners, who are interested in spreading the initiative. The potential for this multi-disciplinary and multi-application technology is vast, with multiple development principles. Very important is the area of Health, safety and ergonomics so monitoring, healthcare and security systems for the elderly, the handicapped, the ill and children; product and process redesign for improved usability, accessibility and conformity to standards.

We are at the at the National Research Center have various experiences , beside our agriculture division we have medicine division and another divisions on all branches of science . All these divisions could cooperate with our project to make rural development in the area of northern west coast of the mediterranean located in Egypt .
Improving barley production in the northern west coast in Egypt . Barley is a very important grain in the world today. It is very versatile in every way. It has been well adapted through its evolution. Now however, barely has become well known and so have its many uses. Barley, which is of the genus Hordeum, is a cereal that belongs to the grass family Poaceae. Barley has many different varieties. The most common is Hordeum vulgare, which is a six-rowed type of barley that has a spike notched on opposite sides with three spikelets on each notch. At each notch there is a flower or floret that later develops into a kernel. Barley is very adaptable to various environments. In fact, it is the most adaptable of the cereals. Barley is an annual grass that has two growing seasons, winter and spring. . Barley also has a very good resistance to dry heat compared to other small grains. This feature allows it to grow near desert areas such as North Africa. Barley contains some substances increase immunity in human body. Barley is widely and is currently a major crop of the temperat and tropical areas. Barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) is the main cereal crop grown in the rainfed areas of Egypt . It occupies about 300,000 feddans ( c . 126000 ha) in the Northwest coast . Epanding the agricultural land base to the drier arable land in Egypt , ÔÇ£ especially the north . west costal region is becoming a necessity to meet the food demands of the growing population . Northwest coast . more desert areas , either sandy or calcareous, have to be put under cultivation. Such soils are poor with respect to their physico-bio-chemical properties, soil water ÔÇô plant relationships as well as their nutritional status . Reclamation and land utilization of such soils are faced by several difficulties Under such severe conditions, desired yield levels are difficult to attain. Proper management of these calls for specialized approaches for sustainable productivity. The practical proper management using organic or inorganic chemical amendments. . The aim of this proposal is to improving barley production in the North ÔÇô west coastal of Egypt by using agronomic treatments and other treatments such as organic manure to satisfy the local demand and export to europe. Egyption Bedouins in the north-west coastal used to cultivate barley with very primerval methods. The forseen impact of the project is to improve the methods and the treatments to cultivate barley with recent activity and recovery of some substances usefull for immunity for human body . The direct cntact with those people may elaborate their life completely.

The UNINOVA (Institute for the Development of New Tecnologies) is a non-profit University-Enterprise association, that was formed in 1986 by the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the New University of Lisbon (FCT-UNL), the Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP), the Professional Training and Employment Institute (IEFP), a financial holding (IPE) and other 30 companies.

The main theme of UNINOVA is to pursue scientific research, technical development, high level training and the creation of new technological innovation centers and small size industries. UNINOVA's facilities are located at the campus of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (Quinta da Torre).

All those structures were totally financed by industrial partners and portuguese institutions for R&D promotion and by the government itself, namely on the behalf of the PEDIP Program (Specific Program for the Development of Portuguese Industry).

In 1988 the UNINOVA was recognised as a proper member of the IASP (International Association of Science Parks), due to the perfect symbiosis verified between this institution and the Faculty itself, which is in total agreement with the parameters accepted by the European Community and the OCDE.This symbiosis is more remarkable in terms of geographic proximity and the model of financing followed during the implementation of UNINOVA.

One of the most important projects for UNINOVA and FCT is the Science and Technology Park, which is composed by two main components, the Science Park (high-level teaching, basic and applied research functions) and the Technology Park (a space specially designed for the allocation of companies facilities during their incubation period).

Besides, UNINOVA is integrated in an industrial and technological development pole of Setubal District (OID/PS) and SOSET (Regional Development Society).

Georgia Tech Lorraine (GTL), the Georgia Institute of Technology's (Georgia Tech) platform into Europe is a non-profit corporation operating under French law. Its activities are divided into five main areas: Graduate level education, with degree programs offered in electrical and computer engineering and in mechanical engineering. Several double degree programs leading to the Master of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and French degrees from carefully selected engineering institutions are also available at Georgia Tech Lorraine. Sponsored research, with programs directed toward specific opportunities in the European community. Such activity has lead to the creation of a joint research laboratory, GTL-CNRS Telecom, between the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and Georgia Tech at Georgia Tech Lorraine. The main thrusts of research of this laboratory are in the areas of secure and high-speed telecommunications. Undergraduate summer program offered in electrical and computer engineering and in mechanical engineering, management, and international affairs. Continuing education targeted at practicing engineers and managers. Local economic development targeted at hosting high-tech companies. Opened in October 1990, Georgia Tech Lorraine is a highly innovative venture under which an American university offers graduate programs in Europe. At GTL students can completely fulfill degree requirements toward the Master of Science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and they can partially fulfill requirements for the Ph.D. degree. When joining this program, students from around the world get the opportunity to study and take courses taught in English by Georgia Tech faculty assigned to Georgia Tech Lorraine. Moreover, cooperative agreements with local partner institutions enable GTL students to pursue double degree programs in engineering and sciences, in addition to degrees from Georgia Tech. Within the framework of these agreements, students may take courses offered by these partner institutions in their local language. Upon successful completion of these highly innovative and integrated programs, students are awarded a Master's degree from Georgia Tech and a Graduate Diploma from a partner institution. Therefore, GTL students are well-equipped to become the leading engineers, scientists and managers of the future. Not only do they acquire an excellent engineering foundation, but they also emerge with the ability to recognize and adapt to the new requirements of the global market and the emerging European academic, research and industrial arenas.

FACTSHEET – Research Institute of the Viennese Red Cross What kind of services or support does a person need both today and in the future facing his or her workplace, age or even sickness? The Research Institute of the Viennese Red Cross broadly approaches and discriminatingly deals with relevant societal problems and – in cooperation with its partners – works on developing creative and innovative solutions. Our central concern and also integral part of all our activities is to guarantee the transfer of project results back into the practical context of health and social services. Theory and practical experience go hand in hand in order to assure the quality of our research. Our Institute is currently participating in national and international research projects and programmes. The Research Institute of the Viennese Red Cross works in four research fields:  Rescue and emergency care Quick and competent medical care for emergency patients is one of the core competences of the Red Cross. Research studies aim at pointing out possibilities to increase the well- being of the patient during transportation with the help of new technologies (e.g. acupressure, oxygen, thermal cover) and how their state of health can better be monitored and improved. Outcome- studies (e.g. laymen defibrillation) make a relevant contribution to the further development of immediate life-saving measures.  Care Demographic change leads to a range of alterations in the final stage of one’s life and to die in a dignified way with the respective care and attendance is one of our main focuses. Our Institute aims at analysing and developing solutions for these changes.  Labour market, employment and volunteer services Our research also focuses on unemployment and its consequences, reintegration and integration of people seeking employment, empowerment and age management. Due to demographic change, the age group of people over 60 years needs to find meaningful fields of activity in the context of „active ageing“.  Health promotion and prevention Due to expanding costs in the health sector new strategies will be required in the near future. Health promotion first of all aims at strengthening one’s health potential and secondly at reducing health-weakening factors, on an individual basis as well as in one’s personal living and working conditions. Our research activities centre around workplace health promotion and health promotion for older people.
