researchers...

14th EARMA Annual Conference

We are delighted to announce that the 14th EARMA Annual Conference will take place at the University of Barcelona, from 25-28 June 2008.You can find out more and register for the Conference at: http://www.earma2008.net

The main Conference workshops and sessions will take place on Thursday 26th June and Friday 27th June, and a Pre-Conference Event is planned for 25th June - this is entirely devoted to the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) - the joint public-private undertaking between the European Commission and the pharma industry.

Abstract: The European Network of Excellence on Embryo Implantation Control (EMBIC) will hold its fourth summer school entitled 'Advances in embryo implantation and pregnancy' in Barcelona, Spain, from 2 to 6 June.

Bringing together students, clinicians and scientists from all over Europe and other parts of the world, the event aims to promote learning and scientific discussions. In this fourth edition, the programme will cover the latest advances in implantation research as well as fundamentals in immunology and ethics in reproduction.

101. Course on management training for life science researchers
[Event date: 2008-05-05] Relevance: 100 
Abstract: A management training week for life science researchers will be held in Berlin, Germany, from 5 to 9 May.

This course, which is supported by the EU-funded TRAYSS PRIME project, will provide researchers with the opportunity to acquire knowledge on important aspects of scientific management in a condensed and interactive form.

During the week participants will learn basic skills in project management, management of intellectual property and exploitation of research results and acquisition of EU funding. In addition, soft skill topics such as self management and conflict management will be covered and bioethical issues discussed with experts. Courses will include extensive hands-on exercises and will be held by international experts from industry, consulting and management companies as well as EU funding experts.

This workshop is targeted at junior group leaders, postdocs, advanced PhD students and other scientists in the life science sector in the Baltic Sea region.

Monitoring eHealth Strategies: Lesson learned, trends and good practices

The study will have to monitor progress and analyse trends in the development and implementation of national eHealth stragegies versus the targets set by the eHealth action plan.

How to eliminate/reduce fragmentation of eHealth market in the European Union?

(04/06/2008) The ultimate goal of this study is to contribute to eliminate/reduce fragmentation of eHealth market in European Union and identify areas where immediate action is necessary; the list of priorities will serve as a point of departure for a future direction of eHealth policy at the EU level.

The key aim of the study will be to assess progress on implementing the national eHealth programmes/plans to review fulfilment of the objectives proposed in the national roadmaps and reinforce commitments towards eHealth development and deployment.

The principal objective of the eHealth progress report will be to assist the national authorities in the Member States, Iceland and Norway in their efforts to comply with the objectives contained in 2004 eHealth Action Plan and transferred into their national eHealth programmes/plans. They will cover in detail proposals for priority actions needed for successful implementation of national eHealth programmes/plans, specific for each Member State, Iceland and Norway.

In addition the study has the additional objective to identify trends and analyse lessons learned via best practices.

The workshop will provide examples, analyse and compare the impact of sector specific policy initiatives promoting eBusiness for SMEs, around the globe. Its objectives are to exchange good practices, experience, lessons to be learnt, as well as means to transfer good policy elements in Europe.

The workshop will elaborate on how different countries have selected to stimulate the effective use of ICTs and eBusiness in particular industry sectors, including the automotive, textile/clothing, footwear, construction, aerospace, bio-informatics, and the agro-food sectors, as well as through policies acting at cross-sectoral level. The programme features prominent eBusiness policy makers and experts all over the world.
